Digi-Pak
This is our final, completed digi pack. It is very similar to the previous digipack other than the fact that we have added our logo to the spines and changed the background on the spines, we really like how it turned out. We love the black and white theme of our digipack, it has synergy within our video because at the start of the video it features black and white photos of the 3 friends.
Evaluation - Question 3.
Here is an image of a large group of people watching our music video. We also showed these people our website and digipaks and then asked them to give us feedback on all three of our media products.
We showed the class the music video, digipack and website and then gathered feedback about what they thought. We done interviews, questionnaires and surveys to gather information.
Here are some of the surveys which were completed:
Summary of Feedback:
From the videos above and also the surveys that we got people to fill out we got a range of feedback. The audience likes the way in which we have portrayed our artist and they like the brand image that we have given her. They like the way we have branded her which has mainly been done through the styling and costumes of her and also the colour scheme that we have chosen. They like the theme and the icons that we have used and they think that it stands out but it is very individual. The main location that everyone seemed to like was the God's Own Junkyard, it is surrounded by bright neon lights. It really stood out to people and it grabbed peoples attention straight away. The audience thinks that the Point of View worked well and that it was original, they think that they are connecting with the character because we are looking through her eyes, it is very different for people to watch. We have a very clear theme that stays consistent and the audience recognises this and can connect it to the artist which is very satisfying.
To improve a lot of the audience have said that the cuts aren't always very good and some of the footage is actually shaky. They think that sometimes it looks unprofessional and maybe we should have changed the footage to make it more stable. They also think that even though we have used a range of locations we should have used a lot more to make it different and maybe change it all around. They have also said we could have had a better quality camera as it would have changed the overall outcome of the look. The audience wanted to see more footage of the artist lip syncing and maybe a bit better.
Digi-Pak Feedback.
Overall the audience would be intrigued by the digipack and they would buy it, this is good for the artist because obviously we are catching the eye of our audience. People like the images that we have used and they think that is has a professional feel to it. They also like the black and white colour scheme that is carried across all of our products. They think the images really capture the pop genre and it helps to establish the importance of our solo artist. To improve they think that there is too much empty space on the top left image and that maybe we should change some of the colouring. They think that it is a bit samey.
Website Feedback.
The audience think that the genre of our artist is clear through our website, they can all tell that it is Pop genre. They wouldn't change anything about the website apart from one who would want the font increased across our navigation bar. We had a range of feedback on what was their favourite section and it varies and they like all of the different sections. The audience can see a clear link between our website and our other products. This is good as our artist has clear synergy.
What have we learnt from our audience feedback?
As a group we have learnt a lot from our audience feedback. We are very glad we chose to film a point of view shot video as the feedback has shown us this makes our music video unique. We wanted to have a unique video to represent our artist well and our audience feedback has shown us that we have done this. We have also learnt from our audience feedback that we could have improved slightly on the editing of our music video. Some of the feedback shows that we could have made the cuts in our music video more smooth if we had the chance to improve the video. From our audience feedback we have also learnt that all three of our media products show synergy between each other. Our audience feedback showed us that the audience for our artist could see a clear connection between all three of our media products.

MYA's Outfits.
The first distinctive outfit and style we chose its a half up half down loosely curled hair style, with a short sleeved white cropped top and some denim ripped jeans. The lip syncing in the video creates synergy with our digi-pak as well as the photos on our website and also on all of our social media sites. We emphasised the shoes that Mya wore in the video so that it was clear that Mya was in the video with her friends, and that it was her point of view. We chose this outfit and style so that people can identify the artist.
These shoes also show synergy between our music video and our website as the trainers with the silver toe which MYA wears are also available for sale on our website. This creates an opportunity for Mya's fans to feel connected to Mya's style.

Locations.
This is how we used the locations we found and put them in our music video. On the right is the locations we planned to use, and on the left is the locations in our actual video.

Front Cover Inspiration.
We took inspiration for the front cover of our digipak from an image of Selena Gomez from her music video 'Good for you'. We took inspiration from this image as Selena Gomez is also a young, pop, female artist similar to MYA. We also took inspiration from this image as it featured the artist with slightly wet hair which fit perfect with our music video as MYA is shown in the video getting into the shower.

Shooting Locations.
Go Pro Shot Locations:
The artist first wakes up in the bed and then goes to the bathroom as she is clearly getting ready for her day ahead. It is about a day in the life of this music artist. Then she gets in a car which then transitions into the day that she is about to have with her friends which includes the pier, the carousel and water fountains.
Next the friends are sat around a table having tea together, just to show they are friends and they are spending time together.
We filmed a time lapse of the cars going down the A12, we stood on one of the bridges that runs across the A12 which was easily accessible for us. We filmed for an hour and a half so that we could incorporate the change of day time to night time lighting in our video.
Next we enter London in where there is some sightseeing. We go to God's Own Junkyard where it is all bright lights and it is really interesting to watch. Then moving on to the Houses of Parliament, tower bridge and also walking to the London Eye at night.

Final Digipack Draft.
This is the digi pack we created. We think it looks more professional than the other one we created and represents our artist better in terms of the photos we have used and how we styled her.

Chosen Autograph.
This is the autograph we chose to represent MYA when she signs merchandise for fans as she gets more famous.
Peer Website Feedback.
Generally most people who marked our website gave an average of 7/10. Lots of the comments included that we needed to make links for our social media pages so that people can click straight on the link and go to our social media pages. Some other comments included that the tour page should have more links to it where people can buy the tickets. A lot of people really liked our merchandise page. Also some people thought that our 'About Me' page should be the first thing that comes up on the website.
·
The
social media accounts should be linked simply through the buttons for the
different socials, as a viewer I shouldn’t have to then go and search your
username on different social medias. The video underneath the social medias
should maybe just be an embedded gif or video without the music and is on a
constant loop without the black screen of loading. The music screen has no
image or actual music to play. The coloured image in the photo gallery really
stands out against the rest which are black and white, breaks the mood that is
being given off which a more emotional side than trying to show off glitz and
glamour with bright makeup, either make it another black and white picture or
take it out. Also some images within the gallery look a bit too casual where as
others really do set up the character of the artist. There is no links to buy
tickets for the tour, otherwise that page looks really nice, I like the
continuation of the little design elements around the writing. Gives a sense of
class to the artist that would otherwise maybe not be felt. Songwriter is spelt
wrong: “songwriter”. If you moved from LA when you were 2 were you really
raised there? The merchandise is all really good and the first site I have seen
with reasonable prices that are accurate to the idea of being a new artist on
the block. Would maybe not have gbhs emails for your management, maybe have
@mya instead. The navigation of the site is really easy, the artist brand looks
really clean and professional and is seen throughout, establishing that look
all of the time and you can clearly see spaces for future completion of certain
tasks. 8/10 Nathan Henton
·
MYA- The one thing that annoys me is that you do not have a link that
sends you straight into the social media accounts. This could be an underlying
factor because some people do not have the patience to find your Instagram
account by using the URL code for example. Accessibility is key in websites.
With the tour dates it’s just a load of scribble, maybe have links which take
you to an area where you can book the tickets for example. Make it look as
professional as you can. As if it’s your business, make it evident how you can
pay for these tour dates.
·
MYA – Good design, however not much to it, flesh it out a bit. The
social media pages are not linked, could include this, would make it more
professional and would add another feature to your site to improve user
interaction. The Instagram logo needs the white background remove otherwise it
look a bit tacky. Also what is the idea with the yellow for social media, and
different title colours, there is no continuity between the titles for each
section of your site. 6-10 Ben Griffiths
·
Make a proper shop using Wix-shop. Looks crisp for majority needs a tad
of work on some of the fonts and boldness. Level 3
·
First photos are nice. The arrows guide you well. Icons of social media
could look better (cut out white). Shall I scroll or click links? A lot of
scrolling down the pages to see all of information. Really like the colour
scheme and photos used. Merchandise is clean and well done. Nice text on tour.
Think the text should match the title and the boarder. Social on every page.
·
Not sure that I like the collage of the photos as you enter the page,
they are good photos but could be too many of them as they take up a lot of the
room. The tour page looks a bit basic. The gallery looks really good. I like
the about me page. Merch looks really good, I love the shoes.
·
The continuity of black and white is good throughout and the pictures
and the photographs used have created shows across the image of the artist
well. You also have a good range of merchandise for fans to choose from.
Although to improve it I would make the home page more interesting and the
icons used for the social media do not fit the rest of the website and some of
the borders between pages also do not fit. I think you need more about you as
an artist. Level 2- 5/10
·
Merch page looks professional Text on About Me page is really good Think
every page should be individual instead of just being all on one page Need more
on Home page instead of just picture – combine About page and Home? Should have
social media links instead of just having username Cant click photos Not sure
about colour yellow of button when you’re on it Level 3 – 7
·
7, - I like the animations and transitions used throughout the website.
I also like how the font type is used. Pointless crown.
·
6- The links to the social media do not work, this will make it better
if the links work, the tour dates do not work, have a link to bands in town, I
look the photos on the website and Need some more details about the artist.
·
like the logo, don’t like the font, can’t buy the merchandise, not that
many photos. 5/10
·
6 - Good first page, maybe add in a quote from a magazine company etc.? Add
a picture to the music album. On the tour thing, you can use bandsintown and it
makes the tour thing interactive so if you wanted to improve the tour. Use the
shop feature on the merchandise area. Also link the Facebook link at the
bottom.
·
The images of social media should link to the artist’s account. You need
to add more songs to the media player as it’s meant to be the whole album. The
coloured photo on the gallery doesn’t fit with the black and white I think you
should either keep them all in black and white or add more colour photos. I
also think that you need to add more photos in different locations. With the tour
dates there is no link for the audience to buy tickets so how do they come to
the show. The light box isn’t personalised which doesn’t make it unique. I’d
give it a 6/10.
·
Links could be added for the social media sites. Could put more songs on
the music page – like the links to listen to them. Not sure the coloured image
matches how the rest of the images are all black and white. Could put link to
ticket master on tour page. Id mark this website a 6.
·
Home page picture cuts off her head. Like the design and layout of the
website. Like the merchandise, different products. Need links to buy tickets. -
High Level 2
·
No videos under the video icon. Could maybe have a different font at the
top as it is a little bit plain. I like the way it zooms in at the top and the
pictures are nice and clear. Could have some more pictures on the slide show.
Level 3- Grade 8 Jono
·
Would be good if you could navigate through the photos, merchandise is
good and some of the products are unique (teddy bear and shoes), maybe the home
page picture could be a single picture instead of tile effect? good colour
scheme of black and white with a pop of colour. - 6/10 Level 2
·
Really like the layout of the website - images match the synergy and
look professional (Level 3) Like how each page transitions and also how there
is a pop up where you can subscribe! Really like the photo album- however
throughout the website, the scrolling becomes annoying and confusing
·
Level 3 - Great pictures and good synergy! Maybe have some more pictures
of her not being so serious, so that you can see a more caring fun loving side
to her.
Peer Digipack Feedback.
All the classes had to write feedback on each artist's digipack and give them a score. This is the feedback we received. The class got shown two of our digipacks, one being the final one we are using and another one that we had made earlier in the music video process that includes photos of our artist when we was trying to create an edgy vibe for our artist.
- The digipack looks good in black and white, the different sections look good, although the bottom left could have something else on it, to break up the page a bit, maybe some text, a quote or something. 8
- The black and white theme makes it all look really slick and the photographs used make it look really clear and crisp. I like the blending on the disc too.
- To improve you could put a barcode on the back cover and the title of the album in the spines. Also you could maybe add the record label on the back cover too. 8/10
- Really like the colour scheme – as it matches throughout. The images look highly professional and highlight the synergy. I prefer the digipack without the black section with ‘Parental advisory’, as it seems a little pointless. Overall, really liked it, would just change a few things. (Level 3)
- Love the synergy, really works with the look they are trying to get across. Gives a really quirky and original look to Mya. Definitely prefer the first digipack as Lollie looks so good a professional. Second digipack is less eye-catching. LEVEL 3
- I feel the photos are amazing and portray the dominance of the female artist. Furthermore, the font is appropriate and matches the rest of the colour scheme well. However, I feel like the image for where the CD is placed could be more interesting.
- I love the black and white theme throughout the digipack. To improve you should add something else to the page to the black page.
- Good images, the parental advisory needs changing as the sides have been cut off, looks a bit messy. The font used on the back page for the sons also needs changing as it is very basic and isn’t really visible.
- The theme is good and constant throughout. The entire design is interesting and engaging. 8
Magazine Cover.
We decided to redo the magazine cover and use a photo that represents our artist better as we have changed her image slightly. The makeup we used on Mya is more natural and a bit more glamorous as opposed to the funky bright coloured makeup that we used on her originally.
Jake Ringsell Music Video Feedback.
We had our first draft videos shown to a music video director and he gave our video some positives and negatives which I think are very useful in helping us decide how we want to complete our music video. We took his points into consideration and worked on our video some more to make it the best that we can.
'LOVE the POV stuff - that’s really current at the moment, great way of adding interest on a budget. Take out the black flashes around 1 minute. They’re distracting - the piece has a really nice feel that’s easy to get lost in. The black flashes draw attention to the editing process. The time-lapse and POV content make for a really honest and almost documentary-esque feel - very nice. The narrative needs to end: Does she go back to sleep? Give the narrative a nice circular structure. It almost feels like a complete day in the life, make sure it’s rounded off at the end. If she can’t shoot any more, end on a time-lapse of the sun setting perhaps. Something's a little garish about the vocal performance - maybe hide with a black and white grade?'

Shooting Schedule.
This is the rest of the footage that we need to film for the rest of the music video.
- Record Lollie going back to bed - opening the door, going up the stairs and then getting back into bed to finish the video as we have filmed a day in our artists life. (6/12/2016)
- Record lip syncing - Graffiti wall in Chelmsford, with black and white effect so that it creates synergy with our digi-pack, social media accounts and our website. Lollie will be wearing a white baggy top with make up and hair done the same as the photo on our digi-pack, hair half up in a bun and the rest down with loose curls. (7/12/2016)
- Film Lollie, Charlotte and Ella sitting down in a restaurant/coffee shop having a drink together to reassure the idea to the audience that this is a point of view video on behalf of our artist and she isn't just following Charlotte and Ella around. (8/12/2016)
- Film more scenes, in a swimming pool, also do some lip syncing of the girls just having fun.
First Draft Feedback.
The first drafts of everyone's videos were shown to the students to gather feedback on it so far. We showed both of the videos that we had recorded. Below is the feedback that we got.
Love Now
No Pressure
Love Now
- Green screen - film in drama studio instead, black and white at the start should carry on or be more dramatic when it changes, friends- its fun and its young, traffic time lapse - too long and irrelevant, its unique and prefer this one
- Much more creative, fun to watch
- Better story with good shots
- Flashing ticks were a bit too much, time lapse too long, use some different shots other than POV, use different frame shots and stabilize them and needs more lip syncing
- Too many shots in one place, could do with more close ups
- Looks more professional and add in lip syncing, too many black screens
- Needs more integrated singing shots and has good footage
- Love lip sync with the POV, locations make the POV really nice but needs more close ups
- Time lapse too long with not enough lip syncing
- Love the story but the car scene is too long and needs more of Lollie singing
- Can't read message on the phone and car section seems irrelevant
- Time lapse too long, lip syncing not in time but like the Go Pro idea.
No Pressure
- Needs lighting improvement
- Eye contact needs to be made more, too long shots, colour correct on the stool, not sure what else you could do, becomes boring
- Shots are on too long, needs more locations, dull
- Quite boring
- Love the black and white and Lollie looks pretty
- Some shots are too long, could have some sparks of colour, like the black and white shot on the chair and colouring needs looking at

Autograph Ideas.
We decided that we should create an autograph to represent our artist. We drafted some signatures for MYA for when she has to sign merchandise, posters and other things for fans as she gets more famous. These are what we came up with.

Digipack Feedback.
Tori Lorente.
Really like the front cover, a really nice bold photo, it looks really professional. I like that the font is simple, but I think that instead of ‘Tori Lorente’ shouldn’t be in a bigger size font than ‘unseen’ I think it should be the other way round. I like that the before every song that is listed, there is a ‘T’ instead of like numbers or bullets. I like that you have kept the whole digipack black and white but I there isn’t any synergy between any of the photos, it isn’t very clear what kind of vibe you are giving your artist, like are you trying to make her edgy/cool or very clean and innocent?

Heidi Holmes.
I like
the pastel colours that have been used throughout, it is very clear how you are
trying to portray the artist, in a friendly way. I love the back cover where
you have put the list of songs, I think the tree trunk looks really good, and I
also like the fact you have included a barcode. I’m not sure if I think that
when you look at it, it just seems too busy? There is quite a lot going on. The
CD cover is nice. The photo with the boots isn’t very good quality compared to
the other photos, and the writing on that page doesn’t fit the theme of the
digipack. The font is too faint you can barely read it and where you have used
pastel colours in the rest of your digipack it doesn’t suit.
AVA.
I love
the first digipack with the red theme, this front cover is so good, looks
really professional. I also think that the way you have displayed the songs is
really original and looks really good he whole digipack is actually full of
really good original ideas. I’m not too sure on the camouflage red part but the
rest of it is really good. The yellow themed digipack is good but compared to
the other one it makes your artist seem a lot younger and as if you are targeting
a younger audience. I think that for the front cover you should do the exact
same the red one in terms of where it says ‘AVA’ over the eyes but just don’t
make it red if the problem is the colour not having synergy within the video. I
like the idea or the different writing saying Ava that looks really good. I
don’t like the upside down photos in the top left corner in comparison to the
rest of the digipack it looks rushed.
Avenue.
I really
like the top three pictures where the lyrics cover your faces as I like the black
and white and then the bright colours on your faces as well. There is a big difference between the top row
of photos and the bottom row of faces, and it doesn’t match. The background on
the bottom photos looks like flowers??? I
think the text on the list of songs on the album should maybe be in a bolder
colour so that it stands out more. The two different rows of the digipack look
a completely different standard. I think the colour of the cd which is grey
doesn’t go with the theme of the digipack or the yellow writing on the CD. The
yellow writing on the CD should maybe be changed to either red, blue or green
so that it matches with the rest of the digipack.
Iuris
I really
like the whole theme of the digipack, there is clear synergy throughout the
whole thing. It is very unique, and personal to your artist in terms of representing
the video and the website which it really good. I really like all of the
pictures you have used as none are in the same location yet they are similar
because the artist is wearing the same clothes. I really like all of the
writing around all of the images as I think it is very unique and different.
The bottom left photo by the lake looks a different quality of photo to the
others, maybe use a different one.
Annika
I like
the colour scheme you have used however you need to add spines to your digipack
because each section is blending together because the backgrounds are all dark.
The photos are good quality and the artist looks appealing. On the image with
black writing the word ‘stay’ is not clear and could be put in a more bold text
to make it stand out more. The text on the songs is hard to read and should be
bolder, it’s hard to judge it as a whole because not much has been done.
Ivory
The front
cover photo is really nice, the artist looks really nice and it is appealing
for a cover. The text on the front cover is really nice and suits the front
cover without being too bold or too faint, it looks really nice. In comparison
to the front cover and the rest of the pictures the CD is quite dull. The
picture that is in the woods doesn’t really synergise with the rest of the digipack
or your artist that we have seen in the video and on your website in terms of
black and white and colour. I like the picture of your artist with the lipstick
smudged as that shows synergy with the video. The writing for the list of songs
could stand out a bit more if you made it bolder.
Luella
I like
the red and black theme as this synergises with your music video and also your website.
I also like how you have used the roses in your digipack, website and music
video. I think the CD picture and the
picture of the red smoke are a bit too similar to be next to each other and should
maybe be separated with another photo or something or edit one slightly to differentiate
it more. I like how you have written the song titles as I think the white
writing stands out from the red and black in the picture. The writing on the
photo with the pond doesn’t stand out and is hard to read, in terms of the font
and the colour, the font should be the same as the song titles is simpler and
looks better. There needs to be something behind the CD cover because in all
the other photos they are dark and then you have two photos on the top right
that are very light and it’s quite random.
Stellato Star
I really
like the front cover, I think the text is in a good place and it stand out also
I like the colours used. The photo that you have used is really like and
represents your artist well in terms of your website and music video. I also
really like the picture you have used in the photo above the front cover and
the way you have edited it. I like the picture you have used for behind the
songs on the album but I think the red writing doesn’t really stand out from
the picture so maybe you should put it in white or make it bolder so that it
stands out more from the picture behind it. I like how you have done the CD. The
black and white picture is a bit too similar to the front cover and also doesn’t
make sense that it is in black and white considering the rest of the digipack
is in colour? Maybe you should change it to colour or use a different photo so
it isn’t too similar. I think that as a whole the digipack is good but it
really dark and should maybe consider featuring some light images to brighten
up the digipack.
Sempa
I like
the editing used on the top left and bottom middle picture as it makes them
different and unique. I like the picture on the top right as it goes well with
the video but I think it could have some writing to something on it to make it
a bit more interesting and eye-catching. I think the picture with the ‘keep
clear’ sign is quite plain and maybe you should use the black and white for the
front cover as it is the most interesting picture. Wednesday, 30 November 2016
Styling Inspiration.
This is the kind of vibe we are going for in terms of styling our artist. It is simple yet the artist portrays her own style. This is how Mya will appear in the lip syncing parts of the video, it also links into the theme and the style of our digipack and during the process of filming our music video, we will continually update our social media accounts and website gallery of photos that emphasise the style of MYA, we will include photos of her in the same outfit and hair and makeup that she will be in throughout the music video to create synergy.

Shotting Schedule.
As a group we completely changed the whole idea of the music video. We used a whole day of filming at Lollie's house and managed to get all of the footage we needed in one day. We still wasn't 100% sure if we wanted to replace our love now video for definite, but we wanted to film and edit so we had the option to.
