Production Diary.

Day 1. 22nd September.
In todays lesson we pitched our song choices to the class. We played the songs without the video on the screen so we could get ideas from the class about what we should include in our music video, and the sort of vibes they got from the song. We wrote all of their points down, and discussed them later as a group.

Day 2. 23rd September.
Today, we all listened to our choice of song and filmed ourselves lip syncing to them to see who looked best doing in and who would then go on to become the performer. It was hard, as we wasn't in the best environment and was laughing throughout some of the videos. We have a choice of two songs and feel is though each song is best suited to two different performers. Although this is the recorded version of the lip syncing, we are going to re do the auditions more privately.

Day 3. 26th September.
We had a setback regarding our choice of song due to the song we had chosen 'closer' making its way up in the top charts and therefore becoming too popular for us to make a video too, as it is very likely that the chain smokers would release an official video for the song and therefore would influence our video too much. As a result of this, we took this lesson to research other songs we could potential use and ended up choosing 'Love Now - Calvin Harris.' Although Calvin Harris is a popular and famous artist, the song we have chosen has never been released as a single and doesn't feature Calvin Harris in the vocals, the vocals are sung by an artist called 'All About She.'

Day 4. 27th September.
The priority of todays lesson was to really get started in the preparation and planning of our music video. We allocated every group member jobs to do. Ella was in charge of carrying out the risk assessment, Lollie was gathering all of our ideas together for the visuals of the music videos and is then making a start on the steal-o-matics. Charlotte was in charge of starting the shooting schedule and also creating the story board of what is going to happen in our music video.

Day 6. 30th September
In todays lesson Charlotte created a mood board for events that are going to happen in our music video, including some locations. We also added some style pictures of makeup and outfits to help create a mood for our video.

Day 7. 3rd October.
This evening we went to our first location and started to film. We all went to the A12 bridge and started filming a time lapse of the cars moving on the road below. We arrive there at 6pm and filmed until 7.30. It was just a still shot for an hour that we intend to speed up and cut down to about 5 seconds. We purposely went in the evening as we knew that the sunset was at 6.30pm. The shot shows the sun setting and created an excellent shot when it is all sped up.

Day 8. 4th October.
In todays lesson we gathered our footage from the time-lapse of the cars and edited it so that it was sped up. We then went on to complete some individual tasks for our blogs. I researched music videos in the same genre as our song and analysed them in terms of the editing, mise en scene, camera shots and sound. This was helpful as it allowed to see how other artists have portrayed there song in a visual music video and allowed us to have an insight into some ideas we could potential adapt for our own music video. Today we also created social media accounts for MYA including Twitter, Snap chat and Instagram. The social media usernames are @__myaofficial.

Day 9. 5th October.
We didn't have a media lesson today however after school we all went back to Ella's house and started to get ready for the photo shoot we are doing so that we have photos of MYA for our Digi - pack, and also for the profile photos of MYA's social media accounts, to finally put a face to the name. After we had taken the photos, we went back to school so we could use the green room to film some lip syncing for part of the video. We needed to use the green room so that we can replace the background with a metallic chrome type background to make it look edgy and cool.

Day 10. 6th October.
In todays lesson we started the editing process for our video. We reviewed all the footage and analysed snippets of each clip. We spent about 3 hours doing this as we made sure it was perfect and tried lots of different backgrounds for our green screen. We were really happy with how the footage had turned out, and this made us excited about the rest of our music video.

Day 11. 7th October.
Today, Ella and Charlotte recorded the story board for our music video. We wrote a script before recording so that it would be easier to film as opposed to having to keep starting again if we messed up. We then uploaded the footage to Adobe Premiere and edited it. We included still photos of our initial story board so that when the voice over was playing, the audience could see what we were speaking about. When we had finished editing it, we uploaded it to YouTube and then uploaded it to our blog.

Day 12. 10th October.
Todays tasks were to create a photo shoot for MYA. We needed to do a photo-shoot so that we can add images to our social media accounts, and regularly upload photos to keep the 'fans' updated. We gave Lollie a makeover and done a couple of different makeup looks and hairstyles. We managed to get some really good photos, that had a touch of professionalism. The hairstyles and makeup looks we done were funky and edgy to continue the persona of MYA that we had created. In the media lesson we had today, we also created the website for MYA where we plan to include tour dates, social media accounts, contact details, merchandise and also a list of the songs on the upcoming album.

Day 13. 11th October.
Today we uploaded all of the photos we had taken the day before to the computer and edited them to make them look professional and flawless. We uploaded them to @__myaofficial social media accounts; Instagram and Twitter. We also created a list of songs for out album and uploaded them onto the website. As well as this, we uploaded lots of other things to our website. We linked the Instagram account to the website, so that every time we post from the @__myaofficial account it goes straight onto the website. The social media account names were also added to the website, along with contact details for MYA's 'management' team; Charlotte and Ella. On the website there is also a personal message from MYA to her fans.

Day 14. 12th October.
Today we went to a graffiti wall in Chelmsford town and got some footage of MYA lip-syncing to our track 'love now'.  We experimented with the go pro and also the camera that the school had provided us. We was at this location for a couple of hours. We experimented in ways to film such as resting the camera on the window of charlottes car and filming whilst driving in a clean circle to get a 360 degree shot of MYA while she was dancing and moving in a circular motion, this made it look like the camera was following her.

8th November.
In todays lesson we worked on the half way evaluation power point. We all had different slides to do in the power point. We also updated some of our social media accounts, we posted a photo on instagram from the myaoffical account.

9th November.
After going through all of the footage we have in todays lesson, we decided that we needed to refilm the lip syncing footage as we felt as though the outfit and the styling of MYA in the footage didn't really go with the artist we have created up to this point. We also felt that as we have been making this music video for a while, and Lollie has got used to being the performer, we would be able to film the footage again at a higher standard now in order to gain the top marks for performance. Throughout creating this music video, we have included smoke effects on our digi pack and photos and therefore thought it would be a good idea to use a smoke machine while filming the lip syncing to create synergy with our other work.

10th November.
In todays lesson, we reviewed all of the footage from the night before and chose the clips in which we thought looked the most professional and then added them into our music video and started to play around with the editing. As we filmed our lip syncing with a green screen in the back ground, we found it very difficult to use the green screen in the way that we wanted, which was to put a metallic silver background behind MYA lip syncing, but where we had used the smoke machine, it was very difficult to edit and did not look professional at all. As we also filmed the lip syncing without the smoke machine, as it allowed us to use the green screen background as we originally wanted to.

11th November.
The whole class presented their half way evaluations today. The half way evaluations included sneak previews of our music videos so far and also all about our artist. It also included showing our website and digi pack. After each group had finished presenting, we scored them out of 50 in terms of their brand image, website, digi-pack, clear target audience and appropriate music genre. With the feedback we received, we gathered it all together and discussed it all as a group and took on board the suggestions that were made.

14th November.
In todays lesson Charlotte and Ella made a tour poster for MYA that we could potentially use. The colours fit with the whole theme of our artist, and the smoke effect we have put on the poster mimic the theme of the digi-pack showing iconic synergy. Charlottes poster features more dark, grungy colours whereas Ella's as a white background and is genuinely quite light. We have both used different fonts and displayed it all differently, but we have both used the same photo as the main feature on the poster but edited differently.

15th November.
In todays lesson Lollie designed a magazine cover. We took inspiration from other billboard magazine covers such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Adele. This isn't our final magazine cover, we wanted to see what worked and what didn't, so we experiment with different colours and themes. We decided that a black and white photograph on the cover would suit the theme we have created for MYA better. On the digi pack and tour poster, we have used grungy colours so we are now going to create another magazine cover to suit the theme of the other work we have done, using iconic synergy. Later on today we all came back to the media room and put in another couple of hours of work. we designed another magazine cover, which looked much better. We chose a rolling stone cover of Rihanna and created a cover based on it. We used the same design.
16th November.

17th November.
Today we created a magazine article for MYA to go with the magazine cover we have created. We looked for inspiration by researching 'Rolling Stone' magazine articles that Rihanna has done, as that is the cover that we took inspiration from, but as Rihanna is such a famous artist, there weren't any articles that we could relate to because MYA is an upcoming artist. We searched 'Halsey' magazine articles as she is a new artist and we found a picture we liked and recreated it.

18th November.
Today we reviewed all of our footage and watched our music video to try and gain a perspective of what we still needed to do. We still need to film quite a lot in order to make our video the standard that we want it to be so we can get the marks that we are aiming for. We sat down as a group and discussed times and dates where we can film, and the locations we could film at. We also discussed outfits and styling ideas.

22nd November.
In todays lesson we updated our social media accounts, we posted on instagram a picture of the tour poster and also posted it on twitter.  We also relooked at the magazine article that we had created and double checked it and added some more to it. We changed the layout of it ever so slightly and moved the images slightly aswell. Although the changes we made were small it made the article seem that little bit more professional.

24th November.
In todays lesson we took the time to get ourselves sorted in terms of our blogs, Charlotte updated the production diary. We spoke more about what we was going to do when we next started filming so we were prepared, we spoke about camera angles and lengths of shots. We also discussed what we thought had gone well so far and what hasn't worked as well as we hoped so we know what to do the next time we start filming. For example, when we re-filmed the lip syncing footage, we used a smoke machine in the foreground to create synergy with the rest of our merchandise and our digi-pack and magazine covers and also our tour posters. When we looked at the footage again we found that the smoke in the foreground of the shot of the lip syncing meant we couldn't use the green screen in the way that we wanted because it kept interfering with the background we had chosen. We learnt from this that if we were to use the smoke machine again we should try it in the background of the shot, behind Lollie and see how that works or just try and edit it smoke in or film it separately to the lip syncing.

25th November.
Today we again used our lesson time to update our blogs so we don't fall behind. Charlotte continued to update the production diary and Ella and Lollie reviewed their blogs and made sure they were up to date. We also gathered some feedback from the magazine article that  Mrs Brookes had looked at and used it to make amendments.

28th November.
Today we all sat down as a group and watched our video through and we felt like we had hit a dead end. Throughout the process of making our music video, we had another idea of a slower paced song  called 'No Pressure - Pia Mia'. We listened to the song and started to brainstorm some ideas for the possibility of re filming our music video to a different song, while still keeping the same persona we have created for MYA, the same website, digi-pack and social media accounts. We haven't made a decision yet whether or not we are going to re-film our video but we thought it would be a good idea to gather our thoughts and ideas together to at least keep our options open. We have been researching videos of a similar genre for our steal-o-matic ideas, and overall feel excited by the thought of filming a new video with more of a performance in it to really show of our artist and make it look more professional.

Inspiration.

After looking at some other videos for more inspiration. Another video that we found was the Vamps - All Night. It was similar to ours in the sense that they do the POV with a wide view however they keep giving the camera to another person to show all of the group. This could have been a good idea for us to do as we could have shown the main artist.

Magazine Article Research.

Today we are creating a magazine article for MYA to go with the magazine cover we have created.

Magazine Cover.

In today's lesson we designed the first draft for our magazine cover. We chose Billboard which is a music magazine and large artists such as Rihanna, Katy Perry and Beyoncé have been featured on the front covers. We wanted to make the headlines interesting but also add in a bit of colour. We took inspiration from several of Billboards front covers.

After playing around with the magazines and looking at some of the others that people had designed we thought we should change the style of the magazine. Taking inspiration from a front cover shoot that Rihanna had done this was our final magazine.

Magazine Cover.

On the digipack and tour poster, we have used grungy colours so we are now going to create another magazine cover to suit the theme of the other work we have done, using iconic synergy.

Tour Poster.

In todays lesson I made a tour poster for MYA that we could potentially use. The colours fit with the whole theme of our artist, and the smoke effect I have put on the poster mimic the theme of the digi-pack showing iconic synergy.

Tour Poster.

Ella also created a tour poster for MYA. We have decided to use my poster as the tour poster which is the darker one and use Ella's tour poster for inside the magazine. Both of the posters show synergy for MYA as both include smoke and the black and white theme.

Half Way Evaluation Feedback.

After presenting our halfway evaluation we got a range of feedback from the other students in the class. Feedback will be used so that we can improve our video and other products. Each student filled out a feedback sheet regarding different parts of the artist.

Shooting material appropriate

  • Excellent variety of locations, slightly faster cuts are need and want to see how it ends.
  • POV is a good idea, good use of friend images to go to the beach to show their friendship.
  • POV is edgy.
  • Camera is steady, good framing, could use more shots such as close ups and high angles.
  • Doesn't match with synergy, theme of white, silver and black is continued through - could be used in the lip syncing parts.
  • Lip syncing needs to be filmed and try different framing options.
Website
  • Black and White is the theme, does it fit with the music. Fix spelling on management.
  • Good website with synergy.
  • Good but needs a shop and show album.
  • Font for the tour dates and the font throughout the website need changing.
  • Logo should be at the top of the website not written.
  • Good website but needs more content, does the colour scheme fit with the artist.
  • Website is good but could be linked to the digipack more.
Digi-pack
  • Matches well with the website and beautiful images. Lighting could be looked at.
  • Good digipack and good editing with the photos.
  • Sexy.
  • Lightning looks a bit out and parental advisory needs to be smaller.
  • Lovely theme.
Brand Image
  • Go Pro idea is really good - the image of the artist is consistent.
  • Brand image is carried through everything, which is good and use the logo on the website for better synergy. Friendship is shown throughout.
  • English/American singer - which one?
  • Clean and edgy - the theme is continued throughout.
  • Great, like the edgy theme and clean.
  • Does the music video suit edgy - carousel isn't edgy.
Targeting of Audience
  • 15 plus and aimed at both genders - professional throughout.
  • Clear target teenagers and early adults.
  • Our age?
  • Teenagers.
  • 16-21?
Would you watch it again
  • Yes, faster cuts and performance. Day to night - colour correction.
  • Could use friendship to lip sync whilst with MYA, not completed yet.
  • No - use of the same things, sing in more/different locations.
  • Contrast editing on the misty shots.
  • Didn't find it interesting, but when the lip syncing is included it will be more interesting.
  • Yes interesting but could change the order up so it has more of a build up.

Font Research.

We experimented with different fonts to decide what font we wanted to use to represent our artist. We knew that we definitely wanted to use a bold font that was very clear, and easy to associate with our artist. We chose to use the last font, Arial as it is very simple and bold so it stands out and looks the neatest. The font we have chosen is very sleek and this is what we intend our audience to think about our artist, that she is sleek and stands out from other artists.

Digipack Ideas.

The cover of our Digi-pack is going to be a photo of MYA with wet hair covering the front of her face, in black and white. We may make her lips a feature and make them the only bit of colour in the photo so that they stand out. We are considering a silver chrome lip colour.

Textual Analysis.

Camera.
In this video the camera shots aren't very steady. The way it is filmed is often like the person filming wants to make it obvious that they are following the people in the music video and filming them, the camera shots are purposely unsteady to emphasise this. There are many close up shots in this music video, of peoples faces. The camera is still and then the people walk into the shot and the camera just shows their neck and their face, this is to also emphasise the fact that someone is filming them, as it like a point of view shot.

Editing.
When the song speeds up during the chorus, there are more cuts and the video changes scenes very quickly to mimic the pace of the song. In this video, the editing often shows one shot of one person, and then cuts to a different shot of another person doing the same thing. For example there is a shot of a girl looking up and then is cuts to the same view of the boy looking up.

Mise en Scene.
Mise en Scene is used a lot to emphasise the feel good vibe of the song. During the first part of the song where is it slower than the chorus, the actors are doing slower scenes and more romantic settings where as when the song gets to the chorus it shows lots of people dancing in time to the music at a very fast past to also mimic the pace of the song. Throughout the chorus there are lots of scenes that are only shown for a short amount of time before it then cuts to another fast past scene. Due to so many different shots being put together, it almost creates a chaotic effect which is good as when the beat drops in the song, the song feels like there is lots going on. The outfits worn by the actors in the first part of the song are very casual, where as when the song gets faster it shows lots of cultural dancing going on which extravagant outfits. When the group of people are dancing in the chorus of the song, the dancing matches the pace and the beat of the song. This gives the impression that all the dancers are happy as it is a feel good song and automatically makes people happy.

Sound.
The genre of this song is POP/ DANCE. This matches the genre of our song that we are doing. It is a very feel good song and is upbeat. The editing is based around the sound and the cuts that are used match the pace of the song.

Behind The Scenes.

3/10/19. We started to film. We filmed a time-lapse of the cars on the bridge of the A12, including the sunset.

Termionlogy.

Homogenous Group: A group that all have the same characteristics.
Mediation: The selection and construction of material in how it is given over to audiences via editing and point of view.
Hegemony: Traditional stereotypes that are reinforced and circulated as common sense to audiences.
Marginalisation: How stereotyping can lead to someone or a social group being ‘placed’ on the outside of accepted cultural norms.
Ideology: An overarching set of ideas often uses as a form of social control.
Moral Panics: Issues in society that often lead to the blaming, and marginalisation of a scapegoat.
Deviancy Amplification: Associated with moral panics, this explains how the media exaggerate a negative representation to ensure a dominant shared reading.

Latent Meaning: Less obvious meaning.

Lip Syncing.

Song Pitch.

In todays lesson we pitched our song choices to the class. We played the songs without the video on the screen so we could get ideas from the class about what we should include in our music video, and the sort of vibes they got from the song. We wrote all of their points down, and discussed them later as a group.

Cross Media Task.

An artist needs to create an image for themselves which the audience can identify with. The artist also needs to ensure that their is synergy between all of their media products. This is an example of cross media synergy for an artist:

The video, the front cover of the album and the digi pack which all have synergy. They all include red and black colours and all use a similar style of font.

Banana Phone Task.

This is the banana phone task we were set as a class. This task was set to help us with our filming and editing skills. This task really helped me as I learnt new things on Adobe Premiere such as cloning which is the editing software we will use to edit our final music video. To improve this task we could have listened to the song more whilst filming as the lip syncing is not in time with the music.

Representation.

Different media producers pick up aspects of reality and reshape them. There are many different stereotypes represented in music videos:

Burlesque Girl;
- Feathers.
- Stockings, usually fishnet.
- Corsets.
- Lots of accessories.
- Elbow length gloves.

The gangster hoe.
- Afro hairstyles.
- 'Bling'.
- Tattoos.
- Curvy.
- Krumping moves.
- Bikini tops and torn shorts.
- Water/ Oil on body.
- Backwards cap.

Strippers.
- G strings and Bras.
- High Shoes.
- Dancing around poles.
- Bum shots.
- Glitter on clothing/Body; strobe lighting.
- The open crouch.

Voyeurism - Erotic pleasure can be gained by looking at a sexual object, preferably when the object is unaware that they are being watched.
Male Gaze - Lauea Mulvey 1975. - Proposed that because because film makers are predominately male the presence of women for the purpose of display (rather than the narrative). This is to facilitate a voyeuristic response in spectators, which presumes a male gaze (regardless of the gender spectator) one that is or may feel like a powerful controlling gaze at the female on display who is effectively objectified and passive. In male performance videos the voyeuristic treatment of the female body is often apparent, with the use of dancers as adornments to the male star ego.
Exhibitionism - Female performers being at once sexually provocative and apparently in control of and inviting a sexualised gaze in what could be termed as the opposite of voyeurism.
Raunch Culture - Andrea Levy - In her book 'Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the rise off Raunch Failure; Levy attacks the increasingly sexualised culture that objectifies women. She argues that women are encouraged to see themselves as objects and to the see sex as their only source of power.

Prelim Task.

These are the prelim tasks from our class. The prelim as that I participated in was Oasis 'Wonderwall.'

Sexualisation of Women.

Voyeurism - Sigmund Freud
Erotic pleasure can be gained by looking at a sexual object (preferably when the object is unaware of being watched).  The voyeurism in this music video is evident as the women are wearing minimal clothing and the use of camera shots and angles are used to exaggerate the women's bodies.

Male Gaze - Laura Mulvey 1975
Laura Mulvey proposed that due to do filmmakers being predominantly male, the presence of women is often for the purposes of display as opposed to as a narrative.  This is to facilitate a voyeuristic response in spectators, which presumes a male gaze (regardless of the gender of spectator) one that is or may feel like a powerful controlling gaze at the female on display who is effectively objectified and passive.  In male performance videos the voyeuristic treatment of the female body is often apparent, with the use of dancers as adornments to the male star ego.

This video shows Rhianna in an erotic nature whilst performing in her music video S&M wearing bondage and minimal clothing.

    Raunch Culture - Andrea Levy

In her book Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture, Levy attacks the increasingly sexualised culture that objectifies women.  She argues that women are encouraged to see themselves as objects and to see sex as their only source of power.
In this video, Beyonce is in her lingerie at the start, there is no reason for her to be therefore this suggests she feel;s the need to be in her underwear whilst singing about her future husband.  Also, there is a shot where her husband is in control by taking down her garter with his mouth, as Beyonce lets this happen this is seen as a source of power with sex.

    Exhibitionism.
Female performers being at once sexually proactive and apparently in control of inviting a sexualised gaze in what could be termed as the opposite of voyeurism. An example of this is Fergie's single M.I.L.F. $.  Herself and her performers are in control of the 'milkman's' wandering eyes.  They have invited him in a sexualised gaze by bending over, wearing little clothing and making eye contact.

    Music Video Song Research.

My first choice of song is Pia Mia - No Pressure.

I chose this song as a potential song for our music video as I like the pace of the song, it isn't too fast that we feel as though the music video would have to be really chaotic to match the pace of the song, and not to slow that it would feel dull. I imagine that our video would be set around water as it is mentioned in the chorus of the song.

    Student Videos.

In todays lesson we watched previous students Music Videos, analysed them and marked them against the marking criteria and levelled them either level 1, 2, 3 or 4.

The first video we watched was called 'Stuck' by Canopy Climbers.

We marked this music video a low/mid level 4/. There were lots of elements of this music video that stood out and definitely reflected level 4 criteria. The lighting throughout the song was very dull which mirrored the atmosphere created by the song. Throughout the music video the camera work was excellent and looked professional, there was no shakiness and there were a variety of different camera angles.  However, as a class, we discussed that the video doesn't match the genre of the song. Throughout the video there were fighting scenes and we thought that it gave an aggressive image of the song whereas the actually music suggested it was a bit calmer than what was shown. Also, occasionally we thought that there was too much going on in the video and that it appeared to be too busy and was constantly cutting and changing to different scenes when in some cases, less is more.

The second video we watched was 'Insomnia'.

We gave this a level 3.
Lots of repeated shots, such as the time lapse of the clouds.

    Goodwin Theory.

Goodwin stated that there were 5 key aspects to a music video.

    1. Thought through beat.

The first step of this process is to analyse the music structure, understanding the chorus and versus. The second step is to analyse to voice of the artist, their voice would be unique and the audience would be able to relate the voice to the star image or the singer. Third step would be the story of an artist which he is trying to tell within the music video.
A song that has a music video that matches the beat of the song is Calvin Harris 'Bounce'. The dancing is in time with the beat of the music.

    2. The relationship between the music lyrics and the visuals.

There are three ways that visuals are used to promote a song:
Illustrations - Music videos use certain imaged and camera shots to explain the meaning behind the lyrics to their song and also to relate the video to the genre of the song.
Amplifying - This is when particular images and camera shots are shown repeatedly throughout the music video and stands out to us to we store it into our vision.
Disjuncture - This means that the meaning behind the song, the meaning of the lyrics, are completely ignored in the music video.

One Directions 'History' music video represents there relationship between the music and the visuals as the song is a reflection of their years as a band together and the video illustrates all memories over the past 5 years that they were a band.

    3. Narrative and performance of the song.
Andrew Goodwin believed that it was important for an artist to be involved in the music video by performing or acting out the role as the main character, or the singer by lip-syncing to make it look real. By the artist being apart of the music video it helps to make the song look realistic and creates a connection with the audience, to the song because of the artist featuring in it, and also advertises the stars image. An example of the concept of performance in the video by the singer is Shawn Mendes - Stitches.

    4. Star image .
Goodwin referred to the start image as a vital aspect of the music video. The star makes the music video more appealing to the viewers, while portraying the artist in a certain way. The start image is always very unique in the way that they are presented in terms of the costumes and makeup, or even dance routines.
An example of the concept of the artist performing in the music video for the song Rihanna and 'Work' - this video is provocative which helps to create a brand image for rihanna and also attracts some people toward the video.

    5. Technical aspect of a music video.

Goodwin proposed that the technical aspect of a music video held the whole thing together, through the use of Mise-en-Scene, sound, editing and special effects. Lightening and colour helps to portray the mood of the music video and gives off certain vibes to the audience, the lighting can also be used to create emphasis of significant aspects of the music video by either making it feel dramatic or thrilling for example. Mise-en-scene is also important in the production of a music video as it can make an artists work appear more professional.

    Music Video Visuals.

In today's lessons we listened to a music video, without actually looking at the actual music video on the screen, so we could imagine what we thought the music video would be like and what the theme was, and what featured in the video.  The song was called 'Solsbury Hill'. In our groups we all came up with ideas and then discussed them, all the groups then gave feedback to the whole class.

Some of the ideas that were shared with the class was the idea of a man in a big, busy city using a time lapse, the main focus is on the man and he is very slow which is juxtaposed with everything around him moving at a fast pace.

My idea, along with the majority of the class, was a country like setting, near a woodlands and it would be peaceful and joyful, which is stereotypical for 'the country' setting as we all perceived the country to be very hilly and joyful.
